If You Liked ___, Then You'll Like Memories!

Updated: Jun 10, 2021

For the past couple years, we’ve been working hard at creating and designing our platformer adventure, Memories. But today, we wanted to offer up some other great titles that capture the feelings we hope Memories will too. While you’re waiting to get a sneak peak at at our own upcoming game, check out some of these!

. . .

Gris

Though the interpretation of Gris has always differed slightly depending on who is playing, there is one thing that everyone can collectively agree on when it comes to this story. This water-colored puzzle platformer is a journey about facing oneself, coming to terms with one’s emotions and learning to accept them. In this story, you follow a young girl named Gris, who is learning to work through her feelings of loss. While the details of Gris’ tragedy aren’t ever explicitly spoken, everything from the lack of color (to the eventual overwhelming explosion of it) and even Gris’ abilities as she learns to navigate her new world in the wake of loss.

Sea of Solitude

Sea of Solitude is a dark tale about the mind of Kay, a woman battling to overcome her loneliness. In a world where loneliness transforms humans into monsters, you as the player must help Kay navigate through an unsteady sea as she explores it’s hidden mysteries by boat or foot. Watch the world change as the ocean turns depending on her mental state and how she’s working through her feelings.

The Last Campfire

The Last Campfire is a cozy puzzle platformer about a lost ember, a soul who is trying to hold onto hope as he makes his way to a promised afterlife. Encountering other lost souls on the way, help pull them from their darkness and reignite their spark as you solve puzzles in a quirky and strange world to get closer to your final destination and light the last campfire.

Folklore

An oldie but a goodie, this action RPG tells the story of Ellen (a young woman who is searching for her supposedly dead mother,) and Keats (a curious journalist for an occult magazine) who are both drawn to the eerie town of Doolin, Ireland after receiving a message from a strange woman telling them to meet her there on the Cliff of Sidhe. While Ellen sets sail in a panic after hearing the voice of her mother, Keats makes his way to town thinking that his outlandish beliefs of Faery’s and otherworldly creatures will finally be taken seriously. But upon encountering the hooded figure, their hopes are shattered when they mysteriously throw themselves off the cliff after claiming that faerys are coming to get them. Keats, who is determined to prove his theories have always been right - and Ellen, who wants to once and for all solve the mystery of her mothers disappearance, embark on an investigation to get answers about the dark seaside town and it’s tight-lipped inhabitants. Through meeting the villagers and tracking down their lost loved ones in the underworld, Ellen and Keats begin collecting memories of the dead and putting together the pieces of Doolin’s darkest secret.

. . .

As you can tell, we’re all huge gamers here (as most game devs are!) and we hope that if you haven’t had a chance to check out some of these titles, you do! If you already have, maybe it’ll get you excited and give you a better idea of what Memories is all about!

Catch ya next time,
